Cioran is not the first to accuse the poorest in society of willing their own poverty, but it doesn’t make the position any less idiotic.

Cohen – – Journal of Medicine and Philosophy 8 2: His insights pull no punches and he makes absurdism humourous -which is I think redeems the futility of living from the onslaught of suicidal thoughts that barrage the reader on every page. A collection of aphorisms, barely any of which reflect reality, which are soaked in some of the most sublime prose. As brilliant a thinker and writer as Cioran was, it became evident to me why I was not very familiar with his work, as I made my way through this collection of essays.

The reason for which I cried though was that he reminded me of what some people that I cared of said to me. Unreality cannot triumph indefinitely, even disguised in the appearances of the most exalting snort.

Bleak, yet I cannot help but laugh. Mijn kijk op de dingen is niet fundamenteel veranderd; wat zeker veranderd is, is de toon.

Uistory vaderland bestond niet meer, mijn moedertaal ook niet Despite the fact that this is kind of a contradiction I think that if we read and try to make an analogy it again sounds like a joke. The Right to Be Happy. Even if I disagreed with everything said here it would have gotten 5 stars for its prose alone. Cioran – – University of Chicago Press. Do you need a hug?

His philosophy is one dexay absolute futility, in which suicide is the most noble act, and any motion towards civilisation, culture or the pursuit of knowledge is entirely misguided. And somehow, by giving it size and shape and weight, he makes it appear almost manageable. Not exactly a location suitable for a wide audience. What is true here is fairly uncontroversial: Ciorans stijl is wispelturig, niet-systematisch, idiosyncratisch.

I make no claims to special wisdom or insight; I offer merely the benefit, if benefit there be, of my reflections. I’d have liked to read further for the comedy factor, since he follows long nihilistic digressions with bizarre, wholly uncharacteristic praise for frivolity.

Published September 15th by Arcade Publishing first published Cioran makes no lie that he has given up on existence aside from writing of course!

Cioran’s thought and writing can only adequately be described as ‘pleasantly exhausting’: To survive life you have to fecay over the bad stuff, because who wants to get over the good stuff?! Aug 06, David Peak rated it it was amazing.
