The main problem with this audiobook is that the overall quality of the audio performance is very bad. I will probably check out some of Greenwood’s newer Forgotten Realms books, but I don’t think I’ll be continuing the Elminster legacy.

He had a very tight deadline, and the publisher wanted the character to advance through a number of jaking classes fighter, thief, cleric, and mage so he could be the ultimate polymath.

I tried to push past it but only read a few more chapters before I began to elminsteer. Seriously, why did I ever read this rubbish? This wasn’t the first thing I read by Greenwood and I will admit that I am not a big fan of his work.


I found that the speaking between characters ruined the whole story for me. Ed designed the Forgotten Realms setting for Dungeons and Dragons, which I think is the greatest shared universe in fantasy. Story of El is always great. That’s what we do, we send boxes. All the naysayers clearly don’t know how to take a Forgotten Realms novel for what it’s worth. However, do Okay, This was a bit torturous, but in the end I actually feel like it was worth it. But its not over yet!
