My big plans for the night was watching my dvd of Fassbinder’s Querelle. As a straight man, I sure do have a love for Gay literature and Gay authors. It’s the ego of youth. I four starred both I’ve read because they haven’t yet achieved the “goosebumps” status in my frame of references in the Mariel train of thoughts that I think about all day. It has a style peculiar to Grnet, but I wasn’t so keen on this book as the latter two.
The type is exceedingly small in the edition I received — I don’t wear reading glasses, and I am using a magnifying glass. It’s a way of putting oneself at ease that nothing can hurt you.
Funny how in my memory there’s so much passion in him but really he’s the burning fire inside a bullet proof tummy I always said he was. Time has to go by better. The gaze loses itself in an abyss of mirrors and stagnant fixations, drawn ever more deeply into its own abnegation and abjection, without hope or desire of return. I still don’t know how to keep getting the romantic part in quuerelle mirrors but I do know that Genet could do it in the first look.
